 -         The Sublime Piero: see the world famous fresco cycle The Legend of the True Cross in Arezzo. This is an outstanding piece of art and something not to be missed by anyone with an interest in art.

-         Landscapes of the Tiber Valley: Cross the valley and visit the old towns of the Valtiberina.  A stop in Sansepolcro, the birthplace of Piero della Francesca, to visit the Museo Civico home to four great works by Piero including his acclaimed The Resurrection often described as the greatest painting in the world.

-         The Apennine Mountain Range: The winding road over the spectacular
Bocca Trabaria pass provides sensational views over the region. 

-         Renaissance Art & Architecture: Marvel at the Palazzo Ducale and see Piero’s Flagellation,
and Raphael’s Muta in Urbino. 



Depart from Passignano at 9 am and drive to historic Arezzo a historic commercial centre since Roma times. The beautiful medieval heart of the city is home to significant artistic patrimony including the largest cycle of frescos painted by Piero della Francesca who was the most important painter of the early Renaissance. 
There is time for morning coffee at one of the café’s situated under the magnificent Vasari Loggia overlooking the Piazza Grande in the city centre. Antique stores and art studios surround the medieval piazza.  Following the Bocca Trabaria to Sansepolcro the birth place of Piero and home to the Museo Civico.
The Duomo is also worth visiting and houses a fine Ascension by Perugino and a superb 8th century carver crucifix. 
Continuing on to Urbino an enchanting city that flourished in the 15th century under the patronage of Duke Federico da Montefeltro. The huge Palazzo Ducale was once the largest building in Europe. The courtyard is a masterpiece of Greek and Roman humanist ideas that would become the hallmark of the Renaissance.

Return to il Borgo arriving between 6 and 7 pm.
