Villa Contessa Bio

Villa Contessa is a historic family villa, dating to 1906. It is distinctively located on a rolling hillside overlooking the Chienti river valley in Corridonia, Marche, Italy.

You will be a guest in the personal home of the ever-charming Stefano Cotroneo. An art and antique historian, Senor Cotroneo will embrace you with an everlasting cascade of stories surrounding the eclectic nature of his family home and guide you through his family history throughout the villa.

Pictures, paintings, tapestry adorn the walls of this magnificent villa. Period pieces of glass, ceramic and china can be admired throughout the villa and Stefano can detail the stories attached to each precious piece at any time. This will be your home in the Marche.

A short drive from the popular beaches of the Adriatic Coast, Villa Contessa offers its guests heritage suites reflecting the history of this dynamic family residence. Steeped in tradition and history, Stefano’s warm personality will walk you back in time with the charming stories of his family history and he will gladly provide you with information on the area of the Marche. Art and history tours are Stefano’s specialty and he would gladly arrange a private itinerary for small groups or personal outings. Cooking classes with Gigliola, a good friend and neighbor of the Villa Contessa, can be arranged on site, or in the warm atmosphere of her home “next door”. Other options can be arranged in an area of your choice, hosted by local talent. Wine and oil tours can also be discussed.

There is complimentary wireless and Lan Line Internet throughout the property and secured on-site parking is available to our guests.  A flourishing flower garden; fruit and olive trees, and a large seasonal garden offering the delights of harvest enhance the grounds surrounding the villa.

 Other amenities offered at the property include a shared lounge with a large screen HD-TV, a tour desk and luggage storage. A unique continental breakfast is provided daily. Homemade breads and pastries occasion the breakfast table, made by our in-house baker, with fruit juices, fresh coffee and tea served every morning. Homemade jams and preserves will delight your palette. (special breakfast items are available on request prior to arrival).

The area surrounding Corridonia is rich in history, art and culture. Food and wine abound in the plentiful towns and villages that embody the spirit of the Marche.

The beaches of the Adriatic Coast are numerous and easily accessed from the Villa. The lines of umbrellas that parallel the Adriatic coast are readily accessable and reasonably priced. Villa Contessa has a reserved space at a popular resort for its guests.  Civitanova Marche is one of many popular beach resort areas on the Coastline. A short drive from the property, the extremely popular Porto Recanati will entice you with its evening vehicle free streets, shops, food and summer evening excitement. Ask Stefano for details on entertainment and restaurants along the coastal road. The spring and summer months are filled with art, music and entertainment festivals throughout the Marche.

An airport is located outside the popular port town of Ancona. Train and bus service is convenient in Corridonia and connects to all major centres along the coast as well as other parts of Italy.
